This article was written by multiple hands, through letters addressed to people, emotions, or even to ourselves. The letters discuss our research but also delve our experiences as individuals and researchers. We are constantly influenced – and here the concept of affection comes into play – by our surroundings. Seven letters were written: to close ones, to fear, to the writer themself, and to daughters of one the authors does not want to have. As a result of this expressive writing, which we call the term “affective writing”, we aim to demonstrate that scientific research, and the theses produced, are much more than just methodologies and results; they are meetings, moments, and stories written daily.
