Sleep Habits and Work Activity of High School Teachers During Covid-19

Abstract

This article aims to describe the work activity and sleep habits of high school teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic, following the implementation of emergency remote teaching. This study is descriptive, cross-sectional, exploratory in nature, and is characterized as qualitative-quantitative research. Thirteen teachers participated, with an average age of 36.9 years, 11 of whom were male. Data were collected through synchronous remote interviews, using an interview questionnaire containing sociodemographic information, sleep habits, and work activity during remote teaching. The results indicated an increase in workload and hours worked, a reduction in sleep duration, perception of insomnia, changes in pre-sleep habits, and feelings of worry and anxiety. It was concluded that significant changes occurred in teacher’s sleep habits and work activity teachers' sleep habits and work activity during the period of remote teaching implemented in the pandemic.
