Abstract

Introduction: although there are laws that ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities, many social barriers, stereotypes and exclusion still persist. In this context, these individuals may attribute negative feelings in relation to their characteristics and consequently this affects self-esteem. Objective: to present resources that can support the development of self-esteem in people with disabilities (PwD). Method: an integrative literature review was conducted using the databases: Scielo, Portal Capes, Pepsic and Lilacs, with the descriptors: "disability" and "self-esteem" considering publications from 2017 to 2023. Results and discussions: the findings indicated a prevalence of low self-esteem among people with disabilities. In this regard, strategies and resources such as the practice of sports, biodanza and social support contribute to improved quality of life and consequently, to the development of self-esteem. Conclusion: The resources presented proved to be effective in promoting the development of self-esteem among the participants, ensuring well-being and QOL.
